The executive vice president of the Claims Conference called on a panel of U.S. financial officers to monitor Austria’s actions on Holocaust-era property restitution. Gideon Taylor was among several Jewish leaders to appear before the panel, led by New York City Comptroller Alan Hevesi. The panel held a daylong hearing in New York, with sessions focusing on Austria’s and France’s willingness to come to terms with their wartime past.
