The international community must guarantee Israel’s security, Italy’s foreign minister said. Gianfranco Fini condemned the recent call by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad for the Jewish state to be “wiped off the map,” according to Ha’aretz and news agencies. “Not recognizing Israel’s right to exist is an incentive for terrorism, because the moment you don’t recognize a state’s right to exist you don’t recognize a people’s right to exist,” Fini said.
