The Israeli birthrate dipped for the first time in the country’s history.Officials said Monday that there were 1 percent fewer births in the generalpopulation in 2004 than the year before. According to Ha’aretz, the drop-offwas far more significant among Israeli Arabs — 3.4 percent.
