The Israeli Cabinet passed its 2005 budget. On Monday, the Cabinet voted 17-3 in favor of the $59 billion package, which includes widespread public-sector spending cuts. In response to some of the cuts, the Histadrut labor federation pledged to launch a strike on Sept. 1.
