The Israeli Cabinet rejected Sunday what it said was a challenge by the European Union to Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem. The move came after Germany’s ambassador to Israel, whose country holds the rotating E.U. presidency, last week wrote a letter stating that the European Union views Jerusalem as a separate entity under the terms of the 1947 partition plan.
