The Israeli military reported fewer conscientious objectors in 2003. According to figures presented to the Knesset on Tuesday by army manpower chief Maj. Gen. Gil Regev, 26 conscripts and reservists were jailed in 2003 for refusing to serve in the West Bank and Gaza Strip, compared with 129 the year before.
