The Jewish community of the Russian city of Kazan is protesting the closing of the local Jewish school, according to NCSJ: Advocates on Behalf of Jews in Russia, Ukraine, the Baltic States & Eurasia. Kazan’s mayor closed the school after a fire destroyed it on July 13, saying that a Jewish school should not be allowed to operate in a non-Jewish neighborhood, according to NCSJ.
