The leader of Germany’s Jewish community was recognized for his work toward interfaith reconciliation. Paul Spiegel, head of the Central Council of Jews in Germany, and Polish composer Krzysztof Penderecki each received the $25,000 State Prize of North Rhine-Westphalia at a ceremony Monday in Dusseldorf.
