The National Religious Party threatened to quit Israel’s ruling coalition over the prime minster’s Gaza withdrawal plan. “We won’t be party to this,” NRP leader Effi Eitam told Israel Radio on Tuesday in reaction to Ariel Sharon’s reported plan to evacuate nearly all Jewish settlements in the Gaza Strip. “If it turns out that this is true, I will be the first to hand in my resignation.”
