The objective of the Maccabee World Union is to encourage the Jewish consciousness and Jewish sportsmanship. On the continent the chief task of the organization is to make sportsmen of good Jews. In England, the chief thanks of the organization is to make better Jews of Sportsmen.

Lord Melchett, president of the world union, speaking at a reception held here in honor of the Maccbee swimming team Hagibor, of Prague, referred to a letter from the Gzechoslovakia at London expressing his satisfaction with the achievements of the outfit.

The Palestine swimmers had done well to win the Maharaja of Patiala’s cup of the western Asiatic games, he said. Lord Melchett expressed confidence that the Maccabee organization in England will soon be able to compete with the best teams in Europe.
