The Palestinian intifada has cost Israel more than $7.5 million, the Bank of Israel reported. That doesn’t include defense costs, but does include border police, hospitalization costs and defending settlements. The cost is between 6.2 percent and 8 percent of Israel’s gross domestic product and is among the causes of Israel’s economic recession, the bank said.
