The Portuguese Government today granted permission for immediate immigration of the parents of German and Austrian Jews now residing in Portugal. At the same time, official quarters termed “absolutely unfounded” rumors abroad that the Government was planning anti-Jewish legislation. The Government organ Diario de Noticias and all other Lisbon and Oporto newspapers joined in denouncing the persecution of minorities in Germany.
