The Religious Action Center of Reform Judaism criticized President Bush’s new economic stimulus plan. “President Bush is correct that an economic stimulus plan is needed,” said Rabbi David Saperstein, the center’s director. “But the president’s plan does little to simulate our economy now, when it is most needed, and little to help American families who have been hardest hit by the poor economy and who are engaged in a daily struggle to make ends meet.” Bush believes his plan, which he presented Tuesday, will revitalize the economy. Saperstein criticized Bush’s proposed tax cuts and the elimination of taxes on stock dividends. Both items favor the wealthy, he said.
