The secretary-general of the United Nations recently signed a declaration named for Anne Frank aimed at getting world leaders to “work together toward a better world.” Referring to the famed teen-age diarist who died during the Holocaust, Kofi Annan said that if Anne, “in her living hell,” could imagine a more peaceful world, “then surely we can summon the will to make that day come to pass.”
