The senior liaison officer of the U.N. peacekeeping force in Lebanon expressed optimism about the state of the region. “The situation is much calmer than we believed it would be,” Lt. Col. James Roche told the University of Haifa’s Jewish-Arab Center. He said Hezbollah and other Lebanese groups are adjusting to the new reality after the recent Israeli troop withdrawal.
