The United Nations voted to establish a register of damage resulting from Israel’s West Bank security barrier. Under last Friday’s General Assembly resolution, a new office would be created to maintain a comprehensive record of the damage, at a cost of more than $3 million during the 2006-07 biennium. The new mechanism is intended to function solely as a technical, fact-finding body, not as a means to win compensation.
