The United States and Israel are holding their latest round of strategic coordination talks.
Shaul Mofaz, Israel’s transportation minister and top strategic liaison with the United States, flew to Washington early Monday for discussions on Iran, Syria and the Palestinians.
Mofaz described past talks with the Bush administration as effective and said Israel still stands behind U.S.-led efforts to curb Iran’s nuclear program through sanctions.
“Over the past year there have been four good meetings in which we shaped policy vis-a-vis Iran. This is the second meeting this year,” he told Israel Radio.
“I think that the current policy that talks about diplomatic steps, the sanctions regime, and all the other preparations is still the proper and balanced policy,” he said, but, in a veiled reference to possible Israeli or U.S. military strikes on Iran, added, “All options must remain on the table.”
