The United States believes an international court hearing on Israel’s West Bank security barrier is unwise, but hasn’t decided whether to submit a brief supporting Israel. A State Department official said last Friday that the U.N. General Assembly resolution referring the matter to the International Court of Justice in The Hague “would undermine rather than encourage direct negotiations between” Israelis and Palestinians to resolve their differences.
