The Jerusalem municipality government, which is now nearing the end of its term, underwent a crisis today when three of the eight Arab members of the Municipal Council suddenly resigned.
The resignations were explained as a result of protests against irregularities in the Jerusalem municipality under the present Mayor, Rageb Bey Nashashibi.
Mayor Nashashibi is now in the last days of his administration, since he was defeated in the municipal elections held in Jerusalem three months ago. He is, however, contesting the elections, claiming irregularities took place during the voting.
