As a result of the refusal of the Pakistan Government to permit an Israeli observer to attend a session in Karachi of the Economic Commission for Asia and the Far East, the conference will be shifted to another site, it was learned today.
The two-week session, which was to have opened February 17, will probably be held in Bangkok, Thailand, in March. Israel is not a member of the 24-nation body but sends observers to its sessions because of the importance to Israel of its trade with the East. Pakistan imposed the ban as a gesture of solidarity with the Arab States.
