Israel’s tourism industry has bounced back from the deep slump of the Persian Gulf War.
The Tourism Ministry reported Monday that 350,000 foreigners visited Israel during the first quarter of this year, restoring tourism to the record levels it enjoyed before the Gulf crisis took its toll.
Most of the tourists from January through March were from the United States. The ministry reported that American tourism was up 12 percent for the quarter.
The rest of the visitors were mainly from Europe, especially Germany and Italy.
The ministry said hotels are fully booked for the approaching Passover-Easter holiday season and that prospects look good for the summer ahead.
