Independent Emirate Similar to That in Iraq Planned (Jewish Telegraphic Agency)

Transjordania which is now ruled as a mandated territory under the provisions of the Palestine mandate, will lose its present status and become an independent Em.-rate as soon as the new treaty between Great Britain and Transjordania will be concluded, states a report of the correspondent of the “Financial Times” now travelling in the Middle East.

Under the new arrangements a regime will be created in Transjordania similar to that obtaning in Iraq. Lord Plumer, who will be the High Commissioner of Transjordania, will be represented by a British Resident at Amman, the capital of Emir Abdullah.
