Two Jewish groups applauded a U.S. Senate resolution setting guidelines for interrogations. “By providing American personnel with clear guidelines for interrogation which prohibit ‘cruel, inhuman and degrading’ treatment of detainees while still maintaining their ability to employ effective techniques, the United States will demonstrate its continued commitment to human rights and respect of the rule of law,” said Robert Goodkind, president of the American Jewish Committee.
