The Commission on Human Rights of the United Nations opened its annual session here today during which it will consider religious discrimination and racial intolerance.
Both items were reviewed at a lengthy meeting of the Subcommission for the Prevention of Discrimination and Protection of Minorities. The situation of Soviet and other Iron Curtain Country Jewries was discussed at length at the subcommission meeting. Correspondingly, it was expected that the Human Rights Commission would deal particularly with the position of those European Jewries.
Meir Rosen, Israel Consul in New York, and Moshe Bartur, Ambassador and Permanent Delegate of Israel to the United Nations in Geneva, will be Israeli Government observers at the meeting.
