Dr. Simon Btesh, former director general of the Israel Health Ministry who was recently named a director of the World Health Organization, has been sent to the Congo Republic by the United Nations reorganize medical services there, it was reported here today.
Dr. Btesh went to the Congo at the request of UN Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold to plan on behalf of the UN the reorganization of medical services which collapsed in the recent rioting. He was accompanied by several other UN-WHO officials who will help restore and administer medical services in the new African nation.
