U.S. and Israel Sign Treaty for Avoidance of Double Taxation

Secretary of State Herter and Israel Ambassador Avraham Harman this weekend signed a treaty for avoidance of double taxation to encourage private investment. The treaty has yet to be ratified by the United States Senate.

The measure alleviates a situation in which there have been cases of persons being taxed by both Israel and the United States. The treaty would take effect Jan. 1. 1961. for the United States and April 1, 1961 for Israel.
