American negotiations with Egypt involving a grant of military aid to Egypt in the wake of the Suez Canal settlement were advanced today in a lengthy meeting at the State Department between Egyptian Ambassador Ahmed Hussein and Henry A. Byroade, Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs.

Meanwhile, Secretary of State John Foster Dulles has consented to receive Israel Ambassador Abba Eban at the State Department Wednesday afternoon to hear the Israel point of view on the new situation created in the Near East by the announcement of British withdrawal from the Suez area. It is thought that Mr. Eban will make known Israel’s position on the pending American arms grant to Egypt.
