The Department of Agriculture has issued a directive prohibiting racial or religious discrimination at hotels or inns in the U.S. national forests.
While the directive does not go as far as comparable regulations governing hotels in U.S. national parks, it is thought by civil rights advocates that the new directive will do much to insure equal accommodations on government-owned land.
