Rabbi Hillel Medalie, spiritual leader of the Jewish community of Antwerp, has been appointed chaplain for Jewish students at the Catholic University of Louvain. There are 150 students at the university, practically all of them American.
This is the first time that contact has been established between the Jewish students at the university and the local Jewish communities. Plans are also under way for the opening of a kosher restaurant in a community center in Louvain.
