U.S. Naval Operations Chief Says Israel Would Start Any New War

Admiral Thomas H. Moorer, U.S. chief of naval operations, says if war breaks out in the Middle East, Israel will start it. Adm. Moorer said in a speech that he felt the timing of a new outbreak in the Mideast would depend on when Egypt builds up enough military strength to launch an offensive against Israel. Israelis are watching Egyptian strength and when they feel Egypt has the ability to attack, “I think they’re going to attack themselves,” he said.
