U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell expressed support for continuing aid to Israel and Egypt. “To start to punish either Egypt or Israel by withholding funds or in some way sanctioning them because they’re not doing enough, I don’t think will achieve the objective,” Powell said Tuesday in testimony before the Senate Appropriations Committee.
