Administrative work in preparation for the processing of more than 200,000 prospective immigrants whose admission was authorized under the Eisenhower emergency immigration bill has been started, it was revealed here this week-end with the publication of advertisements for investigators to check case histories of the immigrants.
The advertisements–by the State Department–called for investigators who could speak Italian, Creek, German, Polish, Arabic and French. The first task of the investigative corps, whose number is expected to reach 190 eventually, will be to check on some 19,000 priority cases in Italy, Greece and the Netherlands. These immigrants have already been authorized for admission but must wait quota numbers.
