Plans for a unified program of Jewish activities in the South were launched here today at the first convention of Orthodox rabbis and laymen of seven Southern states. Greetings to the convention were given by Mayor Gordon Saussy of Savannah.
Rabbi Nathan Rosen of Congregation Jacob is presiding over the convention, the chief work of which will be standardization of curricula for Hebrew schools affiliated with Orthodox congregations throughout the South. Delegates are in attendance from Georgia, Florida, North and South Carolina, Alabama, Tennessee, Kentucky and Louisiana.
