The Jewish population of France is to be knitted together under the auspices of a new organization which is to be known as the United Federation of the Jews in France.
An appeal was issued by Professor Victor Basch, president of the Federation of Jews of France, an organization which is now in process of formation, to all Jewish organizations in France, urging them to join the new federation. The federation is to be the legal representative is to be the legal representative of French Jewry, according to the plans outlined.
It is also planned that all the activities of the federation are to be concentrated in one building which will be called Maison Juive. The building will have meeting halls, a library and a restaurant, it was stated.
Dr. Basch is professor of aesthetics and the science of art at the Sorbonne. He is vice-president of the League of Human Rights and is editor of “L’ere Nouvelle” and “Progress de Lyon.”
