The United Jewish Appeal today started a nationwide cash collection drive designed to raise $35,000,000 in cash. The drive will continue for seven weeks, Morris W. Berinstein, UJA general chairman, announced. It will be climaxed by a UJA National Cash Conference to be held in Washington in the middle of June.
Melvin Dubinsky, prominent communal and philanthropic leader of St. Louis, Mo., has been named national cash chairman. Mr. Dubinsky is chairman of the national campaign cabinet of the UJA. Under his leadership a total of $70,000,000 was chalked up for the UJA 1959 cash campaign, which established a new high in collections for the work of aiding Jewish communities overseas and settling immigrants in Israel.
