United States exports had 25.9 percent of the Israel import market in 1967 and the American share increased to 26.7 percent for the first three months of 1968, according to figures released by the Bureau of International Commerce of the U.S. Department of Commerce.
The report said that United States exports to Israel in 1967 amounted to $196 million out of that country’s total imports of $755 million. For the first three months of this year, the American share was $56 million out of $249 million total imports.
The Bureau reported that Israel was one of the countries indicating “strong interests” in American water treatment equipment and Israelis were expected to attend the exhibit of American desalting and water purification equipment to be held in Rome next February. All phases of the problems of water desalination and purification will be discussed in connection with the exhibit.
