Uri Zvi Greenberg, holder of the Israel Prize in literature, was awarded here tonight the third annual Irving and Bertha Neuman Prize for his book of poems, “Masechet Hamatkonet Vehadmut.” which will be published soon.
The award was made by New York University and carries with it a prize of $1,000. In a ceremony at Bar-lian University here, it was presented to the poet by Prof. Abraham Katsh, chairman of NYU’s department of Hebrew culture and education, and director of NYU’s Institute of Hebrew Studies. Prof. Katsh is also director of the New York institutions, Land of the Bible Professorial Workshop, which is being attended here this year by 18 participants.
