A budget for 1950 of $1,000,000 for the Vaad Hatzala organization was approved here at a conference attended by hundreds of orthodox rabbis and lay leaders in the metropolitan area. A spokesman for the Union of Orthodox Rabbis of the United States and Canada urged expanded assistance to the Vaad Hatzala and an extension of its program to “include aid to Orthodox leaders, rabbis and scholare throughout the world.”
Elected as honorary presidents of the Vaad Hatzala for the coming year were Rabbis Israel Rosenberg and Eliezer Silver, Rabbis P. Teitz and N. Riff, of New Jersey, were named co-chairman of the group’s board of directors.
