An “important meeting” will be held at the Vatican next week to discuss the proposed internationalization of Jerusalem, it was reported today in Tel Aviv’s afternoon newspapers.
According to the report, Pope Plus will serve as chairman of the meeting which will be attended by all Roman Catholic church dignitaries conversant with the problems of the Holy City, as well as those linked to the future disposition of Jerusalem. The report added that the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, James G. McDonald, who is en route back to his post in Tel Aviv following a visit to Washington, will interrupt his trip to present the United States Government’s views on Jerusalem to the parley.
