The memory of the “Righteous Proselyte,” Count Pototzky, who embraced Judaism 150 years ago, for which he was burned at the stake, was honored today at the Great Synagogue in Vilna by a large number of worshippers. A special prayer for the soul of the “Righteous Proselyte” was offered. It is the tradition of the local Jewish population to commemorate the day of the Count’s martyrdom.
Prayers were also offered on the same occasion for the victims of the recent anti-Jewish pogroms in Roumania.
