Vladimir Ashkenazi, famous Soviet-Jewish pianist and one of the outstanding artists of the USSR, today requested and was granted asylum in Britain. Mr. Ashkenazi was here for a series of recitals when he decided not to return to the Soviet Union. He asked for refuge which was immediately given to him.
