Vladimir Putin will host Mahmoud Abbas this week. The presidents of Russia and the Palestinian Authority will meet Monday in the southern Russian resort of Sochi. Abbas, a relative moderate who heads the Fatah Party, is seeking ways around a Western ban on funds to the Palestinian Authority now that Hamas, a terrorist group, has assumed control of the Cabinet. Russia gave the Palestinian Authority $10 million last month.
