Addressing an American Jewish Congress symposium in which spokesman for the Democrats, Republicans and Progressives expressed their views on Israel, Progressive Party Presidential candidate Henry A. Wallace this week charged that Israel had been “betrayed” by the bipartisan policy of the United States.

“Even while both Dewey and Truman repeat the promises they have so shamelessly betrayed, the Republican and Democratic delegation to the United Nations is voting to stab Israel in the back by taking away the Negev area,” he said. Other speakers, representing the Republican-and Democratic viewpoints, included Rep, Jacob J. Javits (Rep.) and Asst. U.S. Atty.-Gen. David Edelstein (Dem.).
