The question of a universal weekly rest day for Russia has become a serious concern of the Jewish Communists, with some of them favoring Sunday, others Monday and still others Wednesday. The “Emes” in an article on the subject says:
“Sunday is not only a rest day, but a day of the ‘Sun God’. Saturday instead of being a rest day, has become a day of Jewish religious observance. Against this sanctity of the rest days, we have started a campaign in Russia. The workers in Odessa and Kiev have decided to make Monday their rest day. The workers of Poltava have decided to rest on Wednesday. But a rest day must be a general rest day throughout Russia so that there should be no confusion in production, distribution etc. A day will be fixed, one day for the whole Soviet Russia, for all its workers and all its peoples. Instead of a day of religious nationalism, it will be the rest day of the Proletarian International.”
