Because he became a convert to Christianity, taxes of one thousand zlotys sent by Felix Wishliczki to the Jewish community of Warsaw have been returned to him by the community. In a letter that he received from the community’s executive he was informed that converted Jews could not be members of the community. Wishliczki is the manager of a large silk factory in Tomashow.
An annual grant of 5,000 zlotys to the Yiddish Literary Society, an organization that includes in its membership all the Jewish newspapermen and writers of Warsaw, has been approved by the Warsaw Jewish community. This is the first time that the Jewish community has granted such a subsidy. The community budget for the coming year will amount to over 5,000,000 zlotys. Herschel Farbstein, a member of the Polish parliament, is the president of the community.
