Helmuth Kienast, wartime Gestapo official who has been accused by survivors of the Linz concentration camp of brutality towards camp inmates, was arrested today by Austrian police officials in Innsbruck, in the French zone. The Polish Government previously demanded that Kienast be extradited to Poland where he is wanted as a war criminal.
