the war. Many of these people were born in these territories which now belong to Rumania. Nevertheless their right to Rumanian citizenship is being questioned. They are citizens of “No Man’s Land.” They thus fall into the category of persons who cannot be employed under the new Rumanian Labor Law.
The statement by Minister Davila is, therefore, small consolation, since the actual facts reveal the opposite of what Mr. Davila asserts.
Of great interest this week was the convention of the Palestine Labor Party, held in Hedera. It was at this convention that the Laborites were to sanction or reject the London peace agreement between their leader, David Ben-Gurion, and the leader of the Revisionists, Vladimir Jabotinsky.
It must be emphasized that Mr. Ben-Gurion, who is sincerely interested in seeing peace and unity in Palestine, is not fully supported in his peace ambitions by the left wing of the Palestine Labor Party, which is dominated by the Hashomer Hazair. This wing is quite strong in Palestine. It is totally opposed to any compromise with the Revisionists and is therefore also opposed to the agreement signed in London.
The strength of the extreme left wing of the Palestine Labor Party was exhibited for the first time during the elections this week to the Laborite convention in Hedera and during the vote taken by the convention as to whether the agreement with Jabotinsky should be ratified
