Reports of memorial services for the late President Weizmann held in various Eastern European countries have been received by the Foreign Ministry here.
Some 700 Bulgarian Jews, Bulgarian government officials and Israeli diplomatic personnel attended a service Sunday in the Great Synagogue in Sofia. Israel charge d’affaires B. Raisin sponsored the services.
In Budapest some 2,000 Hungarian Jews crowded into the Great Synagogue in that city to mark the end of the traditional seven-day mourning period for President Weizmann. Many persons were unable to enter the synagogue because it was jammed full. Representatives of the Hungarian Government and foreign diplomats in Budapest attended.
In Belgrade several hundred Yugoslav Jews attended the services in the major synagogue, Several Ministers, the deputy speaker of the Parliament and heads of a university and of the Yugoslav scientific academy as well as high Army officers attended.
