A committee composed of friends of the late Nathan B. Caspi (Silverstein), a Jewish artist who died in loneliness last month in Somerville, N. J., at the age of forty-five, has been organized to arrange for an early exhibit of his paintings in New York. About 100 canvases and modelings, including compositions on Biblical, general Jewish and landscape themes, were found in his studio. During the last few years the late Mr. Caspi also engaged in sculptural modeling.
Mr. Caspi was born in Lodz, Poland, in 1885. For twelve years he lived in Munich, Germany, having been a student at the Academy of Art of Munich. Following the outbreak of the World War, he settled in Switzerland where he continued his work. He lived for a while in Paris and came to the United States in 1918.
