The seven-day World Congress of Jewish Studies, attended by more than 200 scholars — including about 100 non-Jewish scholars from abroad — concluded here today with a resolution calling for the establishment of American and European branches of the World Union for Jewish Studies which has its headquarters in Israel. Another resolution asked for the microfilming of documents of interest to Jews in overseas archives.
Professor Yigael Yadin, a Hebrew University archaeologist, told the closing session that the Bar Kochba archives and the Judean desert documents unearthed in 1960 and this year, will be published in the original Hebrew, Aramaic, Greek and Nabatean within two years. In an illustrated lecture on the Bar Kochba documents. Prof. Yadin presented slides of documents recently opened and shown publicly for the first time. These documents, like most of those found this year, are of a legal nature, dealing with questions of land properties and administration.
The Archive of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency includes articles published from 1923 to 2008. Archive stories reflect the journalistic standards and practices of the time they were published.
